72 Hours: The Art of Teaching and Therapeutics taught by senior certified Anusara teachers Naime Jezzeny & Sue Elkind with special guest teacher Sianna Sherman
Level One explores how to become a more effective, inspirational teacher. Students
must complete all Immersion phases or obtain special permission to enter training.
We’ll focus on:
• Inspiring your students to move from the inside out
• Seeing your students more simply and clearly
• Using effective language
• Hands on adjustments & therapeutic applications
• Weaving heart-felt themes & philosophy into classes
• Sequencing classes of varying levels
•Holding the auspicious responsibility of the teacher
Therapeutics Training
Learn how to use the Universal Principles of Alignment in a therapeutic application
so that you can gain the skills necessary to eliminate pain in yourself and your
students. This is included in the cost of the full year training.
Certification
At the end of the Level One teacher training, students will receive a certificate of
completion from Yogaphoria. The course meets the requirements for Yoga Alliance
Certification and all hours with Naime, Sue, Sianna and Douglas will apply directly
toward Anusara Yoga Certification.

grades 1-3
Through the integration of body, mind and soul, this
class is sure to inspire your child’s curiosity and
provide the necessary tools for a lifetime of yoga and
mediation practices-- along with an emphasis on the
lost art of storytelling.
Co-taught by two exceptional teachers Dr. Mae
Sakharov and Zaira Leal, this 8 week series will meet
Friday’s from 5-6PM starting Sept 26th.
Mae & Zaira both share a love for working with
children and hold the highest intention and
professional standards. They are joyful, sensitive
teachers valuing the uniqueness of each individual
child with a holistic approach that is respectful and
encouraging.

Dr. Mae Sakharov Ed.D completed her Anusara teacher
training under Naime Jezzeny
and Sue Elkind at Yogaphoria
in 2006 and was certified in
YogaEd in 2007.
She has been a Yoga
practitioner for decades and
has taught Creative dramatics
and circus arts to children.
Mae received an undergraduate
degree in teaching reading and
children’s literature, graduate
degrees in early childhood
special education, post-masters
in learning disabilities, and
a doctorate of curriculum
and teaching (with highest
honors.) from Columbia
University. She holds 4
teaching credentials and has
trained teachers in major
universities and colleges. Her
achievements have been
featured on ABC’s 20/20,
Dateline NBC, and CNN. Prior
to entering the field of
education she was a
professional stage and film
actress, student of comedian
Elaine May and William Hickey.
Zaira Leal was born in Spain and
spent her childhood in Spain,
Morocco, England, Thailand and
Indonesia. She was exposed
to many cultures, various
approaches to life and yogic
philosophy. Upon moving to
the United States in 1999 she
was introduced to asana (the
practice of the physical postures).
“Asana was a revelation,
as I still remember my
first yoga class. The minute
that we began moving, all the
cells in my body started to
dance.” This practice has not
only brought numerous happy
moments, it has also deepened
the way she walks her inner
path…
She has extensive and deep
training in various Yoga traditions
and is currently undergoing
training in the Anusara
Yoga style. She is also a
Registered Yoga Teacher at the
500-hour level, a member of
the International Association
of Yoga Therapists and has
studied, and continues doing
so, with Spanish, Indian and
American masters of yoga. To all of them she owes great respect and gratitude.

The weekend will cover the Principles of Anusara Yoga and how they apply specifically to a prenatal yoga practice, along with important things to remember & avoid, sequences & modifications for different levels of yoga and stages of pregnancy, and much more! Even if you don't specifically teach prenatal yoga, it is still a valuable subject to have knowledge in as a yoga teacher or mom-to-be!
A great workshop for teachers and pregnant yogini’s who want to learn and/or teach the fundamentals of how to practice yoga safely during all three trimesters of pregnancy.
The workshop will include both lecture and practice, include a prenatal yoga handbook and will include time for question & answer at the end.

Joan McDevitt began her journey of practicing yoga 9 years ago, in 1999. Since then, she has been blessed to have studied many different styles of yoga(Iyengar, vinyasa, ashtanga, and jivamukti) with many wonderful teachers(Mary Dunn, Baron Baptiste, David Swenson, and David Life and Sharon Gannon). She began teaching vinyasa style yoga in 2004. In 2006, Joan found the heart of her yoga practice when she took her first anusara yoga class here at Yogaphoria. She recently completed her 200 RYT TT through Yogaphoria, under the instruction of Naime Jezzeny and Sue Elkind. Joan continues her study of anusara yoga by taking workshops with John Friend, Desiree Rumbaugh, Sianna Sherman, Noah Maze and many other amazing and inspiring teachers.

Prenatal Yoga 8-Week Intensive Series

“Prenatal yoga is the body language of
labor & childbirth”.
These 90-minute classes will nurture and prepare your body, mind and spirit for childbirth. You will weave together asana (yoga poses) with breath work, relaxation, & visualization techniques, and integrate work with sound, touch & massage. Together we will build on your existing strengths, while honoring the physiologic changes of pregnancy.
This series is open to all yoga levels and stages of pregnancy.
One Session will be a couple’s class.

Abigail Boehm is a yoga instructor, a nurse midwife and mother of two. She enjoys integrating her experiences of yoga, midwifery & parenting while teaching prenatal yoga. Her mother introduced her to yoga as a child & her private practice spans 35 years. Since she completed her teacher training in 1997 with Erich Schiffmann, she has specialized in adult, prenatal and therapeutic yoga. She practiced yoga before, during and after her own pregnancies. She received her Masters Degree in Science and Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania and teaches about Yoga and Women’s Health and Prenatal Yoga at National Health Conferences. Her creative movement practice and her paintings are directly inspired by her own yoga practice. She is currently studying Anusara yoga with Sue Elkind and Naime Jezzeny at Yogaphoria in New hope, Pennsylvania.

Welcome to the next level! This 36 hour training is designed for
current teachers and students who have already taken an Immersion
and Level I Anusara Teacher Training with either Sue & Naime,
John Friend, or any other certified Anusara yoga teacher.
Throughout the two weekends, you will expand your understanding
and skill in all areas of teaching-- including verbal and manual
adjustments, languaging, theming and sequencing. Refinements
and practices in asana, pranayama & meditation will also be
included.
Dr. Douglas Brooks, professor of Hindu Studies at the University of
Rochester, will be here inspiring our minds and hearts with
Rajanaka Tantra philosophy during the second weekend.
This course is designed to catapault you into the next level of your teaching and practice and will
seriously prepare you on the road towards Anusara certification.

Naime Jezzeny is a nationally-renowned, senior certified Anusara teacher who is celebrated for a teaching style that is precise, accessible, and light-hearted. He is unique among yoga teachers for his in-depth knowledge of biomechanics and its application to all aspects of yoga. Naime has assisted and studied extensively with John Friend since 1999 and incorporates the Universal Principles of Alignment into all of his teaching. Regarded as a teacher’s teacher and a master of therapeutics, he has been teaching workshops and teacher trainings for more than six years throughout the U.S.

Dr. Douglas Brooks is among the world’s leading scholars of Hindu Tantrism and the esoteric traditions of the Goddess. He received his Masters and PhD degrees from Harvard University’s Center for the Study of World Religions where he studied with several of the world’s leading scholars of Sanskrit and Indian studies. Dr. Brooks is the author of several scholarly books on Hinduism and Tantra, and is currently Professor of Religion at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York.
